1.Key principles#
This page explains why you see listings in the order you do. The law also requires it (Law of the Republic of Armenia “On Protection of Consumer Rights” (HO-197), Article 37.2).
- The same order for everyone: for the same search and the same filters, everyone sees the same results in the same order (except for the random selection in the home-page banner, see below).
- No personalization: your views, purchases, favorites and messages do not affect what you see or in what order.
- No profiling: we do not build a profile of your interests and we show no targeted advertising.
- Seller status makes no difference: whether the seller is a private individual or a verified professional seller (Pro or Shop), what rating and badges they have and when they joined have no effect on ranking.
- The only exception is paid placements, and they are always labeled “Ad” (details).
2.Search results#
Search, the home page and sellers' pages show only listings that are for sale (active). Listings reserved for a specific buyer, sold or hidden listings, drafts, and listings of sellers in holiday mode are not shown.
Text search looks for your words in the listing title, the brand name (including its other spellings), the names of the category, colour and material (in Armenian, Russian and English), and the description. You can type in Armenian, Russian or Latin letters (“զգեստ”, “zgest”, “ЗГЕСТ”) — the result is the same. All your words must be found. Small typos are tolerated in words of 4 letters or more.
Filters (category, brand, size, colour, material, condition, price range, seller type and city) only narrow down the list of results; they do not change the order. Results are shown in pages of 48.
2.1“Relevance” sort (default when you have typed words)#
Listings are ordered by how well they match your words. For each word:
- a whole word in the title, brand, category, colour or material;
- the beginning of a word;
- part of a word;
- a close spelling (typo);
- a word found only in the description.
When relevance is equal, bumped listings (labeled “Ad”) come first, then newer listings.
2.2“Newest first” sort (default when you have not typed words)#
- First, up to 12 bumped listings labeled “Ad”. They are ordered by the time they were bumped, from the most recently bumped to the earliest.
- Then all other listings, from newest to oldest (by listing date).
If there are more than 12 bumped listings, the others appear in the general list according to their listing date.
2.3Sorting by price#
With “Price: low to high” and “Price: high to low”, listings are shown strictly by price. Bumped listings are not placed at the top and get no advantage.
2.4“Most popular” sort#
Listings are ordered by the number of times they were added to favourites, then by the number of views, then newest first. Bumped listings get no advantage.
3.Home page#
- Main banner: bumped listings (labeled “Ad”) are shown first, then a random selection from the 12 most recent listings with a photo. The selection changes on every visit.
- “Popular right now”: listings ranked by their activity over the last 7 days — 3 points for each addition to favourites and 1 point for each view (anonymous counts; views by the seller and by robots are not counted) — plus a freshness bonus (20 points on the day the listing goes online, decreasing over the following days) and 2 points for listings with at least 3 photos. At most 2 listings per seller. Bumped listings (labeled “Ad”) appear in fixed positions (2nd, 7th, 13th and 19th), drawn at random, one per seller. The ranking is recalculated every 5 minutes. “See more” opens the search sorted by “Popular”.
- “From sellers you follow” (signed-in members): listings put online in the last 7 days by the members you follow, newest first.
- “Recently viewed”: the listings you have opened, most recent first. This list is kept only in your browser (not on our servers) and you can clear it at any time.
- “Wardrobes in the spotlight”: a paid section labeled “Ad”. It shows, in a random order that changes on every visit, sellers who have bought the “Wardrobe spotlight” option and have at least 5 active listings.
- “Fresh items”: the same order as the “Newest first” search sort — bumped listings first (labeled “Ad”), then the newest. Listings already shown under “Popular right now” are not repeated here.
- Categories and brands: categories that have active listings are shown, and brands are ordered by their number of active listings.
- Who appears on the home page: active listings whose seller’s account is more than 24 hours old (protection against spam). Our moderation team may remove a listing or a seller from the home page (for example, repetitive or misleading listings); the listing remains in search and at its link.
4.Paid placements and the “Ad” label#
Sellers can pay to make their listings more visible. The following are paid:
- Bump (3 or 7 days): top positions in the “Newest first” sort, in “Fresh items” and in the main banner.
- “Wardrobe spotlight” (7 days): the seller's wardrobe in a separate section of the home page.
- Free bumps that verified professional sellers receive each month: these are ordinary bumps and are labeled in the same way.
Every paid placement carries the “Ad” label (Law of the Republic of Armenia “On Protection of Consumer Rights” (HO-197), Article 37.2(4)(13)). This way you can always tell a paid placement from an ordinary one.
- A paid placement does not change the item price, the service fee or the buyer's rights.
- There are no paid placements when sorting by price.
- Feeding items (baby bottles, teats) never get paid placements: the law prohibits advertising them (Law HO-177-N of 20.11.2014, Article 12).
- The site shows no third-party advertising and no targeted advertising.
Prices: Service Fee and Prices.
5.Pro and Shop status and ranking#
Professional seller status (Pro, Shop, Shop Premium) gives no ranking advantage: these sellers' listings are shown under the same rules as everyone else's.
The only exception is the free bumps that verified professional sellers receive each month: they are ordinary bumps and are labeled “Ad”.
The “Pro”, “Shop” and “Official shop” badges show that the seller is a professional seller — an individual entrepreneur or a company — whose registration details and documents Im Paharan has checked. The “Official shop” badge appears only on items of brands for which the shop has provided an authorization from the brand owner or its distributor. When you buy from a professional seller, you have additional rights (Buyer rights).
6.Seller badges#
Two kinds of badges can appear next to a seller's name. None of them can be bought, and none of them affects the order of search results or of the home page.
- Verified status: “Pro”, “Shop”, “Official shop”. These badges show a professional seller (individual entrepreneur or company) whose registration details and documents the Im Paharan team has checked (details). The status is verified, never bought. It clearly distinguishes a professional seller from a private individual, who has no such badge.
- Earned badges: “Fast shipping”, “Replies quickly”, “Trusted seller”. They are calculated automatically every day from the seller's actual activity on the site. They are never bought or awarded by hand, and they are removed automatically as soon as the condition is no longer met. Hovering over a badge shows its explanation.
- “Fast shipping”
- more than half of the seller's last 5 shipments (so at least 3 out of 5) were shipped less than 48 hours after payment (hand deliveries are not counted).
- “Replies quickly”
- more than half of buyers received a first reply in less than 2 hours, over the conversations opened in the last 30 days (at least 5). A question left unanswered for more than 24 hours counts as a slow reply.
- “Trusted seller”
- at least 10 completed sales, an average rating as a seller of at least 4.7 (published reviews only) and no dispute lost (an order refunded after a dispute) in the last 90 days.
- No badge is shown for an account that is suspended or closed, or that is under a current restriction of features (no new listings, no new contacts, or no purchases and offers). A simple warning does not remove badges.
- Badges have no effect on the order of search results or of the home page (see Key principles).
- The phone number and identity of private individuals are not verified at present. A “verified” mark is shown only where a real check has been carried out (for example, for professional seller status).
7.How reviews are collected#
- Only the buyer or the seller of a completed order on Im Paharan can leave a review. Every review is linked to a specific order on the platform.
- After the order is completed, each participant has 7 days to leave one review: a rating from 1 to 5 (required, none is preselected) and an optional comment. A review containing contact details (phone number, email address, link, card number) is refused.
- Blind publication: a review becomes visible only once both participants have left theirs, or at the end of the 7 days; nobody sees the other person's review before giving their own. A review can be edited for 24 hours, as long as it has not been published.
- Automatic reviews: Im Paharan does not write, buy or commission reviews. The only exception is two automatic reviews given to the seller and labeled “Automatic review”: 5 stars when the buyer has not reviewed the seller within 7 days of an order completed without a dispute, and 1 star when an order is refunded because the seller did not ship it in time. They count towards the average rating, and the profile shows how many reviews are automatic.
- On the profile: the average rating (calculated from all published reviews, automatic reviews included), the breakdown of ratings from 1 to 5, and the reviews, newest first, each showing the item concerned and whether it was received as a seller or as a buyer (filters “As seller” / “As buyer”). Reviews are not sorted or hidden according to their rating.
- The person reviewed can reply publicly once; the reply can no longer be edited.
- Every review has a “Report” button (fake review or fake transaction, insults, personal data, blackmail or swapping of reviews, no connection with the order). Moderators examine reports: a review that breaks the rules or is clearly illegal is hidden with a stated reason, and its author is informed and can appeal.
Legal basis: Law of the Republic of Armenia “On Protection of Consumer Rights” (HO-197), Article 37.2(3)(7). Review rules: Terms of Use.
8.Changes to these rules#
The ranking and advertising rules may change, for example when new features are added. Before any change, we will update this page so that it always describes how the site actually works.
